Due to a lack of quality second hand wood/ coal burning cookers in the UK I decided to make my own!
Taking the obsolete Rayburn 300 series GAS cooker as the basic “chassis” it’s stripped completely and all the following parts disposed of

gas train- boiler-insulation-flue funnel-diverter.

The ovens are left in place, cleaned up, as are the door backs-or replaced as needs be.
The new door frame cut out is done, the frame bolted on and the new firebox manufactured to suit your requirements. It has a new inner ash pit door, thermostat (wet versions) to control the fire, grate and grate frame, new side and rear panels and flue box with top outlet to take a 6″ pipe.

It’s designed to burn WOOD but will burn coal and other solid fuels

We offer the cooker in 3 versions

The DRY cooker. No boiler purely for cooking and room warming. This can be tailored so a small boiler can be added later (if wanted)

The WET cooker. The small boiler is installed,it fits across the rear of the fire and produces 20,000 btus(*) which will be enough to heat bags of hot water and up to 5 rads.

The BIG BOILER cooker. With a huge boiler that we know heats up to 50,000 btus(*).That’s 14 rads and hot water

(*) boiler output is subject to fuel type, dryness ( wood),stoking cycle and flue draw.

All the engineering work is done in Derby at the factory that makes the Sandyford range of cookers. They are skilled engineers and each cooker is welded and made to order- so this “conversion” isn’t a DIY job!

We can supply a cooker with a newly enamelled black top, but to standardise we ONLY offer

Black side panels, new glass door frame and flue box.We do NOT re-enamel the cooker front which would add £1000 to the cost -our aim is to make an affordable cooker-  like an “old car  with new engine”.
